The Transportation and Destruction Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day transportation operations and courier workforce.They manage all aspects of transportation discipline to include safety and security compliances, route structures and development, personnel scheduling, workload assignments, cost control and metric driven performance. The Transportation and Destruction Supervisor typically solves problems as it relates to the day-to-day operational workflow.Supervisors must be knowledgeable of the local area, the local customer base and the local operation in order to make quick, efficient decisions that impact TCS.

PAY: Up to $77,000 annually DOE (paid biweekly)

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (Weekends as needed)

HOURS: 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Expect to be on-call)

LOCATION : 6090 NE 14th St. Des Moines, IA 50313

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Human Resources/Workforce Leadership - Provide daily oversight of transportation and destruction plant operations to ensure high levels of service, production and quality metrics are achieved.Plan staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage.Execute daily reporting mechanisms that provide critical data points to business trends and overall operational performance. Responsible for staff on all relevant company policies, safety and security procedures and OSHA and NAID requirements., recruiting, counseling, coaching, disciplinary action and writing reviews. Process and approve payroll, time off requests and exceptions.Communicate effectively with the front line regarding change procedures, initiatives and program roll outs. Responsible for a thorough courier check in / check out process.

  • Operational Excellence, Standards & Compliance – Tracks progress of routes daily (InControl, 20/20, email communicators).Administers the Checkride Program.Ensures routing technology is used and routes are executed as designed.Manages scanning platform to include proper usage, route id configurations, exception code usage and proper care of equipment.Accountable for variances to plan for all route performance.

  • Transportation Administration / Maintenance - Manage DVIR / BDIR process.Work closely with outsourced vendors to maintain the fleet in prescribed manner.Establish and manage proper workflow to ensure daily, weekly and monthly DOT / IFTA reporting and requirements are met.Develops Coordinator and Courier workgroups in the area of policy and procedure as it relates to Transportation Administration and Maintenance.

  • Destruction Operations / Maintenance - Provide ongoing, direct supervision to staff in plant activities related to safety, security, staffing, sorting and production.Have a general understanding of forecasting, planning, and assigning tasks in an effort to attain optimization goals, driving plant performance based on metrics.Perform or oversee repairs to equipment as needed to ensure operationally safe when in production.Load and unload vehicles as required and verify accuracy of deliveries and pickups.As needed, perform “hands on” work assisting staff with loading/unloading vehicles, operating equipment and other tasks when needed. Conduct daily site inspections consistent with internal and external audit requirements to ensure the plant is compliant at all times.

  • Safety and Security Administration: Ensure safety & security procedures are adhered to,maintain security of material, trucks and facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • General understanding of budgets and financial statements as well as background with manufacturing methods and process improvement programs.

  • Experience with various IT applications / databases (Excel, Access, Word, etc.).

  • Support and maintain employee centric programs, fostering a work environment conducive to positive employee relations.

  • This role will supervise all aspects of shred plant production and lead by consistently demonstrating the Core Values expected of an Iron Mountain employee. Consistent application of all standard operating procedures as well as ensure safety and security of all staff.

  • The ability to identify barriers to success, analyze and develop solutions to variables that can negatively impact all aspects of plant operations, including employee relations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside of the company.Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually; exhibit a professional manner when dealing with others to maintain constructive working relationships.

  • Manufacturing type environment at times requiring dust masks and/or ear plugs; ability to pick up heavy material (70lbs to 100lbs) and/or push as much as 200lbs; required to walk production floor, work with and direct employees with shred machinery and equipment; ability to operate PIT (and other equipment) as licensed. Work gloves required when handling and sorting materials for destruction.Safety glasses required.Steel toe shoes required.Temperatures on the production floor can sometimes be equivalent to external temperatures.

  • Preferred, possess a valid Class B license with airbrake endorsement and a good driving record and be able to pass a pre-employment substance abuse screening, a background check and a DOT physical

  • Experience operating a PIT required

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred

  • Five or more years of route transportation experience

  • Daily travel within market

  • Education/Education;High school required, 4 year college degree preferred, 2 - 4 years.
